Bad Apples Story

Kjell and Sarina have run Bad Apples Tattoo Emporium since 2011. The studio is in Taringa, Brisbane, a short walk from Taringa Station, and both of them still tattoo here alongside the rest of the team. Everything we do is designed for the client rather than picked off a wall.

Each of our artists has their own specialities, and we book you with the one whose work actually suits your idea rather than whoever is free. Between them they cover fine line, black and grey realism, traditional, blackwork, ornamental and colour illustrative work.

We prioritise your comfort and safety. Every needle is single-use and opened in front of you, the studio is set up so you can see how it is cleaned, and we are happy to answer any question about how we work before you commit to anything.

Whether it is your first tattoo or your fifteenth, we will talk it through with you first. Consultations are free and there is no pressure to book on the day.

The Bad Apples Standard

Common Questions

Professional Safety

We would rather over-explain than have you guess. Ask what anything is, where it came from, or why we do it that way, at any point during your appointment.

Creative Excellence

Six resident artists, and we design for the person in the chair. You get a drawing made for your idea and your body, and time to change it before anything goes on skin.

Friendly Atmosphere

No egos here. Nobody will make you feel stupid for asking a basic question, changing your mind halfway, or bringing in a reference you found on Instagram.

Our Mission

To empower self-expression through world-class artistry, in an environment that is safe and chill.

No Compromise on Safety

Aftercare Guide

Vegan Inks

Every ink we use is vegan and free of animal-derived ingredients. Ask and we will tell you the brand of anything going into your skin.

Hospital-Grade Sterilization

Anything reusable goes through one of our two autoclaves. Both are digitally monitored, and both are spore-tested annually.

Health Dept. Certified

The studio and every artist working in it is registered with the Health Department. The paperwork is on the wall if you want to read it.

Meet The Team

Six artists work out of the studio and their styles do not overlap much. Reading their portfolios first is the fastest way to find the right person for what you want.
